Abhishek Sharma Likely to Play Marquee T20 Clash Against Pakistan
Indian opener Abhishek Sharma, who has been recovering from a stomach infection, is expected to make his return to the field for the highly anticipated T20 match against Pakistan this Sunday, according to spinner Varun Chakravarthy.
Abhishek was sidelined for the recent game against Namibia after being hospitalized for two days due to the infection.
Chakravarthy provided an update on Abhishek’s condition, stating, “As far as I have spoken to him, he looks good, he did some practice today also. He told me he is on the way.” Chakravarthy, who delivered a standout performance in the victory over Namibia, expressed optimism about Abhishek’s potential return.
During the toss, India captain Suryakumar Yadav had mentioned that Abhishek would miss a couple of games before fully recovering. In his absence, Sanju Samson filled in as the opener alongside Ishan Kishan.
The defending champions, India, remain undefeated in the tournament following their victory over the USA in the opening match. Abhishek’s upcoming training session in Colombo will serve as a crucial assessment of his readiness for the high-stakes game against Pakistan.
If Abhishek is able to replicate his usual performance during practice sessions, indicating his ability to bat for extended periods, he is likely to be cleared for the match.
Stay tuned for further updates on Abhishek Sharma’s availability for the upcoming clash against Pakistan.
