Opposition Leader Sunil Sharma Criticizes NC Government for Nepotism and Betrayal of Youth in Jammu and Kashmir
In a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC) government, Leader of Opposition Shri Sunil Sharma accused the administration of institutionalizing nepotism and failing to fulfill the aspirations of unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma highlighted the government’s failure to create employment opportunities for deserving young individuals despite the promises made during elections. Instead of prioritizing educated and qualified youth, the administration has been rehiring retired officials through questionable administrative decisions.
One such instance involved the reappointment of a retired officer, allegedly a close relative of a senior political leader, through orders issued by the General Administration Department (GAD). Another retired official was similarly accommodated in the Tourism Department, raising concerns about nepotism and favoritism.
Describing these actions as “anti-youth and anti-merit,” Sharma criticized the NC government for breaching public trust and failing to deliver on its commitment to provide one lakh jobs.
Sharma emphasized the need for the government to end unethical and corrupt practices, calling for transparency and merit-based appointments to restore credibility among the public.
Addressing the government’s welfare claims, Sharma dismissed the promise of subsidised electricity as misleading and deceptive, questioning the delay in providing the free electricity units pledged in the last budget session.
He also criticized the government’s handling of the Prime Minister’s Surya Urja Muft Bijli Yojana, noting that thousands of registered families in Jammu and Kashmir were still awaiting its benefits.
Furthermore, Sharma criticized the NC government’s overall performance in areas such as employment generation, governance, and development, accusing the administration of focusing on rhetoric and photo opportunities rather than tangible progress.
During a recent visit to Assam, Sharma expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) increasing influence across the country, citing the party’s potential to secure a third consecutive term in Assam and gain traction in West Bengal.
He highlighted the public’s preference for development, transparency, and good governance over deceitful practices, signaling a shift towards parties that prioritize the welfare of the people.
