Tragedy Strikes as Landslide Claims Lives of 70-80 Livestock in Kishtwar District
In a tragic incident on January 28th, a devastating landslide struck a kacha house and adjoining cattle shed in the Hasti area of Kishtwar district, resulting in the loss of at least 70 to 80 sheep and goats, officials confirmed.
The livestock, owned by Sachin Kumar, son of Munshi Ram, a resident of Bhatkoot Kuntwara currently residing in Hasti, were buried under debris when the sudden landslide hit the premises.
Upon receiving the distressing news, local residents and revenue officials swiftly responded, joining forces to retrieve the deceased livestock from the damaged structures. Miraculously, no human casualties were reported in the tragedy.
Expressing deep concern for the affected family, the locals have urged for immediate compensation, emphasizing the severe impact of the livestock loss on their livelihood. They have called upon the administration to promptly assess the situation and provide necessary relief to the grieving family.
