New Delhi- With the anticipation building up, Indian cricketer Tilak Varma expressed the team’s excitement for the upcoming high-stakes match against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup on February 15.
Pakistan’s decision to reverse their boycott of the highly anticipated clash against India in Colombo came after pressure from the International Cricket Council and other member nations.
Speaking about the team’s readiness, Tilak stated, “We are very excited to play. We found out about the match just a day before. We are prepared and focused. We are closely observing all the teams, studying the bowlers and batsmen.”
“All the players and team members are geared up for the game. We are in the match zone now, and the strategic planning will commence,” Tilak added ahead of the Namibia game.
India’s assistant coach, Ryan ten Doeschate, highlighted the advantage Pakistan holds as they have been acclimatized to Sri Lanka and will play all their matches in the host country.
Discussing the upcoming match, Tilak elaborated, “We are taking it one match at a time. We analyze videos, utilize technology to understand our performance and the pitch conditions. We have prepared diligently, focusing on the specific shots to play and the bowlers to target.”
The T20 World Cup fixture between India and Pakistan is set to proceed as scheduled, following Pakistan’s reversal of their decision to boycott the Colombo clash on February 15.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi clarified their initial stance, emphasizing their intention to secure “respect” for Bangladesh. The controversy arose when Bangladesh declined to travel to India for their group-stage matches due to security concerns.
