Infrastructure-Led Development in Udhampur Region: A Visionary Roadmap by MLA R S Pathania
Udhampur, Jan 18: MLA Udhampur East, R S Pathania, has outlined a comprehensive plan for the infrastructure-led development of the region, emphasizing connectivity, safety, and public convenience as his top priorities.
During his recent tour of Talmara, Jaganoo, Thanoa, Dhanori, Sattani, Channi Morh, and other nearby areas, Pathania reiterated that the Dhar road project is on the verge of becoming a vital lifeline for Jammu province.
With strong support from Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister, the Dhar road project has received advanced sanction and is expected to kick off soon, promising to revolutionize the region by enhancing economic and social activities through improved connectivity.
Furthermore, Pathania announced that the Samba–Battal road stretch has been assigned to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), ensuring high-quality construction, regular maintenance, and technical oversight to address longstanding connectivity issues, especially along the pilgrim routes to Mansar and Surinsar.
Highlighting the strategic significance of Dhar Road as a crucial Defence Road for army movements and essential supplies to Kashmir and Ladakh, Pathania emphasized the importance of BRO’s involvement in the project.
The MLA also addressed issues of chronic waterlogging in villages like Sattani, Sountha, and Channi Morh, directing GREF to implement effective drainage systems to prevent stagnation and hardships.
Pathania instructed the Railways department to regulate water discharge from railway culverts to avoid flooding of public and private land, while also tasking the Irrigation and Flood Control Department with developing a drainage plan to divert spillovers into designated cavity nalas along the Dhar Road drainage system.
Additionally, GREF was directed to open blocked drainage outlets for equitable water flow, and the Assistant Commissioner Revenue was assigned to prevent encroachments in natural nalas.
At Dhanori, Pathania reviewed the local Sports Stadium and urged the Sports Department to propose fencing and development plans for a multipurpose stadium, emphasizing its importance for students, youth, Army personnel, and staff of the Military Hospital.
Concerning garbage dumping and interference by certain agencies, Pathania reiterated the importance of respecting public land boundaries and activities.
