Director Amit Sharma Inaugurates Training Programme for Census 2027 in Jammu
In a recent event in Jammu, Director Census Operations (DCO) and Director Citizen Registration (DCR) for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Amit Sharma, inaugurated a three-day training programme for officers of the Directorate of Census Operations. The training focused on preparing for the upcoming Census 2027 and the first phase of House Listing Operations (HLO) and Housing Census in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
During his address, Sharma emphasized the importance of designated nodal officers for each district and the need for a thorough understanding of the upcoming Census among all trainees. He highlighted that the Census 2027 would be the first Census conducted through digital means after independence.
Sharma encouraged all trainees to fully engage in the training and strive towards establishing ‘Census as a Service.’ He urged them to learn all concepts thoroughly and disseminate the knowledge to various administrative officers and field functionaries in Jammu and Kashmir.
Furthermore, Sharma directed the trainees to make the most of the intensive training provided by national trainers, who are currently serving as Joint Director and Deputy Director in the region.
Joint Director Arun Kumar and Deputy Director Manmeet Singh Loomba welcomed Sharma at the event, expressing gratitude for his positive initiatives in the directorate and his efforts in preparing for the Census 2027.
Overall, the training programme aimed to lay a strong foundation for the successful conduct of the Census 2027, with a focus on utilizing digital means for data collection and analysis.
