Stakeholders in Pampore Industrial Estate Seek Resolution for Land Possession Delay
A recent on-spot inspection of the Industrial Estate (IE) Pampore (Brick & Tile) by the Committee on Estimates of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly has brought to light the long-pending issue of delayed possession of land for rightful leaseholders. This delay has had a detrimental impact on investment and employment opportunities in the area, according to stakeholders.
During the inspection, leaseholders, represented by their president Khalid Wani, highlighted the fact that despite allotments being made several years ago, they are yet to receive possession of the land. This has led to stalled projects and a loss of livelihood opportunities for local youth. The prolonged uncertainty has also discouraged entrepreneurs and eroded confidence in the industrial ecosystem of the region.
In response to these concerns, the Committee, along with senior officers of the Industries and Commerce Department, urged the concerned officials to expedite the process of handing over possession of land. Director Industries (Kashmir) Khalid Majeed assured the members that the matter is in its final stages, and a Cabinet Note will be presented shortly for approval, facilitating immediate handover.
Stakeholders welcomed this development, expressing hope that a swift resolution to the land possession issue would help revive investment and accelerate industrial activity in Pampore.
