Adverse Weather Conditions Disrupt Train Services on Baramulla–Banihal Section
On January 25, train services on the Baramulla–Banihal section of the Kashmir rail line faced disruptions due to adverse weather conditions, affecting the daily commute of passengers, according to officials.
One of the affected trains was number 74626, which was supposed to depart from Baramulla to Banihal at 7 am but was short-terminated at Budgam due to heavy snowfall along the route.
Similarly, train number 74614, also traveling from Baramulla to Banihal with a scheduled departure time of 7.10 am, met the same fate as it was short-terminated at Budgam, causing inconvenience to passengers.
Furthermore, officials announced the cancellation of train number 74615, operating from Banihal to Baramulla, for the day due to the significant impact of heavy snowfall on track conditions and operational safety within the section.
In light of ongoing snowfall and the accumulation of snow along the railway track, the decision to suspend services was made as a precautionary measure to prioritize passenger safety. Railway staff have been deployed to assess the situation, conduct necessary clearance operations, and ensure safety checks are carried out effectively.
Passengers intending to travel on the affected route are advised to stay updated on the latest train status before commencing their journey and to cooperate with authorities during this challenging period. Service restoration will be implemented once weather conditions improve, ensuring a safe and efficient travel experience for all passengers. (KNS).
