BUDGAM: Secretary Reviews Progress of Rural Development Works
The Secretary of the Rural Development Department (RDD) & Panchayati Raj, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, recently conducted a comprehensive tour of Budgam district to assess the status of various developmental projects under rural development schemes.
During the tour, the Secretary visited key project sites in Budgam and Khansahib blocks, emphasizing the importance of timely completion and quality execution of the works.
The tour began with a visit to the Regional Extension Training Centre (RETC) in Budgam, where Aijaz Asad interacted with the Block Development Officers (BDOs) of Budgam and Khansahib blocks. He urged them to adhere to the set timelines and guidelines for the projects.
Subsequently, the Secretary inspected the under-construction District Development Council (DDC) Building near the Office of the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) in Budgam. He reviewed the progress of the project and directed the executing agency to expedite the remaining works without compromising on quality.
At Panchayat Halqa Shoolipora in Block Budgam, the Secretary inspected the construction of a concrete protection wall at Aastan Syed Musa Deewan. He emphasized the need for proper supervision and timely completion of the work to ensure its quality.
In Block Khansahib, Aijaz Asad reviewed the progress on a playfield at Panchayat Halqa Shinipora, highlighting the importance of creating durable community assets for youth engagement and sports activities in rural areas.
Later, the Secretary visited the under-construction Panchayat Ghar at Reyar Beerwa, Block Khansahib, being developed under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). He instructed officials to expedite the work to make the facility functional at the earliest.
During interactions with field functionaries, Aijaz Asad stressed the significance of regular monitoring and outcome-oriented implementation to achieve the objectives of rural development schemes. He emphasized the importance of completing all projects within stipulated timelines for maximum benefit to the rural populace.
The Secretary was accompanied by officials from the Rural Development Department, including the Joint Director, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, and Executive Engineer, along with all concerned Block Development Officers.
