Cultural, Linguistic Revival Efforts In J&K Began In 2020: LG Manoj Sinha
Srinagar- The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, declared that the efforts to rejuvenate languages and promote local culture in the region commenced in 2020 after a prolonged period of neglect. He emphasized the collective responsibility of preserving this cultural heritage.
Speaking at the Akhil Bhartiya Hindi Kavi Sammelan held at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu, as part of the Republic Day celebrations and organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, the Lieutenant Governor stated, “It is our duty to advance this heritage not merely as memory, but as a living, breathing tradition.”
He extended his greetings to the poets participating in the Sammelan and underscored the transformative role of the literary community. He highlighted the unique ability of poets to reform society’s inner character, drive social progress, and inject renewed vigor into the nation’s consciousness.
“A truly prosperous society, rich in material progress yet balanced in culture and spirit, needs the essential contributions of both scientists and poets,” he remarked.
Reflecting on the essence of poetry, the Lieutenant Governor described it as a bridge between the tangible and the ethereal. He noted that poetry emerges when inner emotions transcend ordinary expression and take on articulate form, resonating with the rhythm of existence.
He further emphasized that culture provides direction to the soul, while economic empowerment ensures stability. He stressed that a harmonious, progressive, and self-reliant society can only emerge when both dimensions progress in tandem.
“We possess natural resources, human capability, and a rich cultural heritage. What is required is wise and deliberate deployment of these resources to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and contribute to national advancement,” he added.
