LG Sinha: 62 Key J&K Heritage and Religious Sites Restored in 4 Years
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the administration’s dedication to enhancing religious tourism and safeguarding cultural heritage in Jammu & Kashmir.
During the foundation day celebration of Purmandal-Utterbehni Teerth Seva Nyas in Samba district, LG Sinha revealed that significant efforts have been made over the past four years to restore 62 crucial religious and historical sites in Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated his pledge to elevate Purmandal into a premier spiritual destination, focusing on sustainable and culturally enriched religious tourism.
Describing Purmandal-Utterbehni as a hub of tradition and spiritual enlightenment, Sinha characterized the area as a symbol of unity and self-discovery. He highlighted its significance as a sacred pilgrimage site that promotes love, respect, and harmony, embodying the essence of eternal culture.
The administration, under LG Sinha’s guidance, will adopt a cohesive approach to conserve and enhance the region’s spiritual infrastructure. In response to requests from the Teerth Seva Trust, Sinha instructed the district administration to allocate land for a new Ved Vidyalaya, with funding assistance from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Additionally, he pledged financial support for establishing a Gurukul or Sanskrit Pathshala.
Sinha also revealed plans to pursue the development of a four-lane road connecting Purmandal, supported by the central government.
He lauded the efforts of Purmandal-Utterbehni Teerth Seva Nyas, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and other organizations in preserving cultural heritage and encouraged community involvement in safeguarding natural assets.
The event was attended by Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, DDC Chairperson Samba Keshav Dutt Sharma, along with other public figures, officials, and community leaders, alongside numerous devotees.

President Droupadi Murmu recognized Rajouri district for its exceptional contributions under the Jal Sanchay–Jan Bhagidari initiative, a nationwide campaign promoting community-driven water conservation and sustainable resource management.
Rajouri’s commendable efforts in promoting water-saving practices, involving local communities in decision-making processes, and ensuring long-term environmental preservation have positioned the district among the top performers nationwide.
The success of Rajouri’s initiatives can be credited to the collaborative endeavors of the district administration, local communities, panchayats, and government departments.
The district implemented innovative watershed management techniques and conducted awareness campaigns to encourage water conservation among the populace.
