Remembering Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah: A Political Figure of Qazigund
On February 13, Jammu witnessed the sad demise of former Forest Minister and ex-MLA from Qazigund, Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah. After battling a prolonged illness, he took his last breath in Jammu, where he was undergoing treatment.
A prominent figure in the political landscape of Qazigund, Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah was known for his extensive public outreach and significant contributions to social and political affairs in the region. During his tenure as MLA, he spearheaded various developmental projects and addressed public welfare issues within his constituency. His role as Forest Minister was crucial in advocating for forest conservation, environmental protection, and administrative reforms in the department.
Being the uncle of the current MLA from Qazigund, Peerzada Feroze Ahmad Shah, his passing deeply impacted the entire constituency and neighboring areas. Political leaders, party members, and local residents all mourned his loss and extended their heartfelt condolences to his family.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed profound sadness over Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah’s demise and sent his sincere condolences to the bereaved family. The Office of the Chief Minister, J&K, released a statement acknowledging Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah’s contributions to public life and service to the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
“Chief Minister has expressed deep sorrow over the passing away of Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah, former Minister. The Chief Minister recalled his contribution to public life and service to the people of Jammu & Kashmir and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family,” the statement read.
