Security Forces Conduct Night-Long Operations in Rajouri District Following Drone Sightings
On January 12, security forces in Rajouri district of Pir Panjal region undertook extensive Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) and area domination exercises in response to reports of drone sightings along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Rajouri and Mankote area of Poonch, as well as along the International Border (IB) in Samba district of Jammu.
In addition to the LoC belt, suspected drone activity was also observed in interior areas of Rajouri district, prompting security agencies to increase vigilance and reinforce security measures.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence inputs, a high alert was issued, leading to intensive night operations at various sensitive and suspected locations on Sunday night, which continued into Monday morning.
As part of the heightened security measures, special checkpoints were set up on major roads and highways across the district, where vehicles and pedestrians underwent thorough checks and frisking.
The night-long CASOs, area domination exercises, and vehicle inspections persisted throughout the district and were ongoing in some remote hinterland areas.
Multiple drone sightings were reported on Sunday night along both the IB and the LoC in Rajouri, Poonch, and Samba districts. The Army stationed along the LoC in the Nowshera sector even engaged in firing to intercept the suspected drone.
