Fresh Western Disturbance to Bring Rain and Snowfall to Jammu and Kashmir
Weather experts predict that a new western disturbance will impact Jammu and Kashmir on February 1 and 2, leading to light to moderate rain and snowfall across various parts of the Union Territory.
According to a senior official from the Meteorological Department in Srinagar, the higher altitudes are expected to experience moderate snowfall with additional accumulation.
The weather department forecasts dry conditions until January 31, with increasing cloud cover by the evening. After the weather system passes, improvement is anticipated from February 3 onwards, with partly cloudy skies expected until February 6.
Considering the upcoming weather changes, authorities have issued a precautionary advisory for travelers and transporters. They are advised to consult with traffic authorities regarding road conditions, especially on mountainous routes and inter-district roads, before embarking on journeys.
Residents residing in snow-prone and high-altitude regions are cautioned against entering slippery and avalanche-prone areas during the snowfall period to ensure their safety and avoid potential hazards.
Emphasizing the importance of following the issued advisories, the official highlighted the necessity to prevent inconvenience and prioritize public safety during the anticipated weather fluctuations. (KNS)
