Reopening of Closed Tourist Destinations in Jammu and Kashmir
The reopening of closed tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir, specifically Yousmarg and Dodapathri, has been met with gratitude by Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader and former minister Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura. The decision, announced by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, comes after the closure of these areas following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025.
Hanjura expressed relief over the reopening of these tourist spots, acknowledging the hardships faced by stakeholders such as ponywalas, hoteliers, transporters, and laborers during the past year due to the closures. He welcomed the decision, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on the livelihoods of those dependent on these tourist destinations.
Furthermore, Hanjura extended his thanks to all stakeholders, including political and social activists, who advocated for the reopening of these areas. He also urged the Lieutenant Governor-led administration to promptly consider reopening other tourist spots like Tosamaidan to further support the tourism sector in the region.
