Historic Victory for Jammu and Kashmir Under-16 Cricket Team
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had a special morning meeting with the victorious Jammu and Kashmir under-16 cricket team following their triumph in the Vijay Merchant Trophy (Plate Group) competition. This victory marked a significant milestone for Jammu and Kashmir in the realm of cricket.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister personally spoke to each player, discussing their individual and team performances. He commended the young cricketers for their exceptional skills on the field and urged them to maintain their winning streak and strive for even greater achievements in the future. Additionally, he showed a genuine interest in their academic endeavors and other interests outside of sports.
Expressing his pride in the team’s remarkable accomplishment, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated, “Your victory is a testament to not just talent, but also teamwork, discipline, and dedication. You have brought immense pride to the entire Jammu and Kashmir region.”
As a gesture of appreciation, the Chief Minister presented a trophy to the winning team, led by Captain Smagey Khajuria, in recognition of their outstanding performance and their significant contribution to the sports scene in Jammu and Kashmir.
It is worth noting that on January 6, Jammu and Kashmir secured a resounding victory over Mizoram by an innings and 182 runs in the final match held in Surat, Gujarat. This victory marked the first time that Jammu and Kashmir claimed the prestigious Vijay Merchant Trophy, creating a moment of immense pride in the sporting history of the region.
