Inam Un Nabi Highlights Er Rashid’s Proposal for Reservation Reform in Jammu and Kashmir
The Chief Spokesperson of Awami Itihaad Party (AIP), Inam Un Nabi, recently shared insights on a significant development regarding the reservation issue in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Nabi, Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Er Rashid, has penned a detailed letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, presenting a comprehensive solution to address the longstanding reservation concerns in the region.
Er Rashid, in his communication, emphasized the need for a more inclusive and rational reservation framework that accurately reflects the demographic composition of Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed concerns over the existing reservation system, citing discrepancies in population representation and regional distribution. Rashid proposed a population-based reservation model at the District, Divisional, and Union Territory levels, aiming to ensure fair and proportional allocation of opportunities for all communities.
Nabi further elaborated on Rashid’s advocacy for a population-sensitive approach to reservation, emphasizing the importance of equitable representation for marginalized groups, including those residing in remote and backward areas. The MP proposed a recalibration of the reservation structure to align with the actual population dynamics, thereby addressing longstanding grievances and fostering confidence among the populace.
Moreover, Er Rashid put forth a compelling plea for 2% reservation for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir in paramilitary force recruitments nationwide. He argued that such a provision would not only enhance employment prospects for the region’s youth but also serve as a means to channel their potential positively. Nabi highlighted the significance of Rashid’s proposal in creating dignified avenues for employment and empowering the youth of the Union Territory.
Inam Un Nabi emphasized Er Rashid’s call for the Home Minister’s intervention to revisit the reservation structure through a population-centric lens. He believed that implementing a transparent and fair reservation policy based on demographic realities would instill clarity and confidence among the youth and marginalized communities in Jammu and Kashmir. Nabi reiterated AIP’s commitment to advocating for a just, inclusive, and merit-based reservation system that upholds principles of social justice.
The proposed reforms, as outlined by Er Rashid, offer a balanced and constitutional roadmap to address the reservation controversy in Jammu and Kashmir. Nabi affirmed that AIP would continue to champion for a policy that prioritizes fairness and inclusivity, aligning with the vision of a progressive and equitable society in the region.
