Speaking at a gathering at the party headquarters in New Delhi, Modi praised the 45-year-old Nabin for his youthful energy and extensive organizational experience, emphasizing the invaluable assistance he will provide to the party.
Throughout his 40-minute speech, the prime minister consistently referred to Nabin as ‘mananiya’ (honourable) and highlighted the government’s achievements over the past 11 years as a report to the party president. Modi expressed his anticipation for the new direction that Nabin’s words will offer, emphasizing the significance of his guidance in shaping the party’s future actions.
Attended by prominent leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Amit Shah, and J P Nadda, as well as Union ministers, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, and numerous party workers, the gathering witnessed Modi describing the process of being accountable for his work to the new president.
Emphasizing Nabin’s role as the newly appointed BJP national president, Modi reiterated his commitment to following Nabin’s lead in party matters, acknowledging him as the boss in this domain. He emphasized Nabin’s responsibility not only towards managing the BJP but also ensuring coordination among all NDA allies.
Modi highlighted Nabin’s unique position as a leader who has experienced the transition from radio news in childhood to being well-versed in Artificial Intelligence, underscoring his combination of youthful energy and substantial experience. The prime minister stressed the critical need to identify and repatriate infiltrators for the country’s security.
Lessons from Congress and BJP’s Approach
In a veiled reference to the Congress party, Modi urged BJP workers to learn from the mistakes of the grand old party and avoid repeating them. He pointed out the significant decline in the Congress’s performance over the years, contrasting their past electoral success with their current struggles.
Modi emphasized the importance of self-reflection within the BJP, highlighting the party’s commitment to reviewing its performance even after electoral victories. He cited the recent triumph in Maharashtra’s civic bodies polls as an example of the party’s proactive approach towards continuous improvement.
Underlining the BJP’s legacy as a party of ideals and values, Modi underscored the consistent direction maintained by the party despite changes in leadership. He credited past leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, and Murali Manohar Joshi for laying the foundation of the party’s growth.
BJP’s Development Model and Governance
Reflecting on the BJP’s evolution from “a party with a difference” to a symbol of good governance, Modi highlighted the party’s distinct development model characterized by stability, effective governance, and sensitivity towards various issues. He contrasted this model with the dynastic politics of the Congress, the ideologies of regional parties, and the era of unstable governments.
The prime minister emphasized the BJP’s commitment to continuous improvement and its focus on governance that prioritizes the welfare of the nation. He praised the party’s ability to adapt and grow under different leadership, ultimately strengthening its position from grassroots levels to national prominence.
