Cabinet Minister Criticizes BJP’s Push for Jammu Statehood
In a recent development, Cabinet Minister Javid Ahmad Rana expressed strong criticism towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for advocating Jammu Statehood. Rana firmly stated that any potential separate Jammu state should not include the Pir Panjal or Chenab regions.
During an exclusive interview with the news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), Minister Rana highlighted the historical context, refuting claims that Jammu was exclusively a state of Dogras. He emphasized that while some assert that Dogras defined the boundaries of Jammu, it was never solely a Dogra state.
Rana vehemently opposed the idea of a minority ruling over the majority, citing it as against natural law. He dismissed the notion of granting separate statehood to Jammu, particularly without the inclusion of Pir Panjal and Chenab regions, which are integral parts of the state.
Regarding recent controversial statements made by BJP leader Sham Lal Sharma advocating for a separate state for Jammu, Minister Rana dismissed such proposals as baseless and politically unsubstantiated.
It is evident that the discourse surrounding the division of Jammu statehood continues to stir debates and disagreements among political leaders. Minister Rana’s stance emphasizes the importance of considering all regions and communities within the state’s boundaries, rather than pursuing divisive agendas.
