Reopening of Mughal Road for Limited Vehicular Traffic
The authorities in Shopian have announced the reopening of the Mughal Road, allowing limited vehicular traffic, specifically Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), during designated hours. This decision comes after a thorough assessment of weather and road conditions, with a focus on the challenging Peer Ki Gali stretch known for snowfall and icy surfaces in winter.
LMVs will be permitted to ply on the Mughal Road from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm, while Heavy Motor Vehicles and passenger buses are restricted from using the route. Only LMVs meeting safety and winter preparedness standards will be allowed, with drivers urged to follow traffic guidelines, minimize stops, and ensure their vehicles are winter-ready.
Traffic authorities have emphasized that the schedule may change based on weather updates and safety assessments. Commuters are advised to stay updated on traffic notifications and travel within the specified hours. The temporary opening of the Mughal Road serves as a crucial link between south Kashmir and the Pir Panjal region, offering essential mobility options during the harsh winter months.
This development is expected to benefit the local community and facilitate necessary travel arrangements, enhancing connectivity and accessibility in the region.
