Government’s Commitment to Addressing Challenges in Jammu and Kashmir
In a recent address to the MLAs in the Central Hall of the J&K Legislative Assembly complex, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to tackling the pressing issues of unemployment, infrastructure gaps, and social welfare in the region. Sinha emphasized the importance of combining development with dignity, growth with social justice, and progress with peace, guided by the vision of inclusive governance.
The LG highlighted the government’s humane and compassionate approach in dealing with issues affecting common citizens, ensuring fair treatment, dignity, and sensitivity in administration. He also mentioned the government’s efforts to address the challenges faced by employees, daily wagers, contractual workers, and marginalized groups with empathy and corrective measures.
Sinha pointed out that reservation reforms have enhanced representation and inclusivity in public institutions, with a special focus on the welfare of tribal communities through various initiatives. The past year saw a significant milestone in Jammu and Kashmir’s democratic journey with the formation of an elected government, strengthening public faith in democratic institutions.
The government’s emphasis on responsive and people-centric administration was evident through regular public grievance redressal meetings and the JK Samadhan portal, which facilitated the resolution of thousands of grievances in a timely manner. Good governance remains the cornerstone of the government’s development strategy in the region, with sustained reforms in transparency, accountability, digital governance, and citizen-centric service delivery.
Addressing the J&K Assembly for the third time since the formation of the NC-led government, Sinha’s speech outlined the government’s policies, achievements, and plans for the future. The LG’s address is a statutory requirement under the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, mandating the Lieutenant Governor to address the Assembly at the start of each year’s first meeting.
