Private Schools Directed Not to Charge Transport Fees During Vacations
The Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC) has issued a directive to private schools regarding the collection of transport fees during winter or summer vacations if the transport facilities are outsourced or hired from third parties.
Chairman FFRC, Justice (Retd) Sunil Hali, has emphasized the importance of adhering to this directive, warning schools of strict action, including penalties and de-affiliation, for non-compliance.
Complaints received by the committee highlighted that several private schools were still collecting transport charges during vacations, despite not owning their transport facilities.
The circular issued by FFRC on June 30, 2025, explicitly states that schools without their own transport facilities are prohibited from collecting any transport fee during vacations.
According to the circular, schools that own and operate their transport facilities may charge 50 percent of the transport fee, while those outsourcing or hiring transport from third parties must not charge any fee during vacations.
If any fee has been collected by schools in violation of these guidelines, it must be refunded to parents immediately. Failure to do so may result in penalties, including a one percent penalty on total revenue and possible de-affiliation.
It is essential for private schools to strictly comply with these instructions to avoid legal repercussions.
