Khelo India Winter Games 2026: Gulmarg Leg Dates Announced
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, unveiled the dates for the upcoming Khelo India Winter Games 2026 in Gulmarg. The event is scheduled to take place from February 23 to 26 in the scenic Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. This edition marks the sixth installment of the prestigious Khelo India Winter Games.
The first leg of KIWG 2026, featuring thrilling ice sports, was successfully conducted in Ladakh from January 20 to 26. Now, all eyes are set on Gulmarg, which will play host to the snow sports competitions. The Indian Army, known for its sports prowess, will be looking to defend its overall championship title in Jammu & Kashmir.
Dr Mandaviya expressed his excitement about hosting the Gulmarg leg immediately after the Winter Olympics, stating that it is the perfect time for the Khelo India Winter Games. Following the successful phase in Leh (Ladakh), he anticipates a similar level of enthusiasm and competitive spirit as athletes gear up to face nature’s challenges in Jammu & Kashmir.

Previously considered niche activities with limited engagement, ice and snow disciplines have now gained a national platform for participation, enhancing performance standards and public interest.

The Gulmarg leg of KIWG 2026 is strategically timed to follow the Winter Olympics Milano Cortina 2026, ensuring a seamless transition of global momentum and competitive energy into the domestic winter sports calendar.
