Investigation Launched Against Job Scammers in Srinagar
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has taken decisive action against a group of individuals accused of preying on innocent people, especially unemployed youth, by offering fake government job promises in exchange for money.
Following a detailed complaint received by the EOW, it was revealed that the accused had been deceiving job seekers with false assurances of employment in various government sectors such as banks, the Agriculture Department, and Defence services. The victims were duped of nearly ₹39 lakh under the guise of securing their dream jobs.
Instead of fulfilling their promises, the scammers provided the victims with counterfeit appointment letters, ultimately leading to a trail of deceit and disappointment.
Upon thorough investigation, the Economic Offences Wing confirmed the fraudulent activities and discovered that the accused had resorted to using fake identities through registered SIM cards to carry out their criminal schemes. The forged appointment letters further solidified the gravity of their deceitful tactics.
Consequently, charges under Sections 420, 468, 472, and 120-B of the RPC have been pressed against the culprits. A formal case has been filed at the Police Station Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch Kashmir, with ongoing investigations to bring justice to the victims.
In light of this alarming situation, the EOW has issued a public advisory, urging individuals, particularly job seekers, to exercise caution when approached with lucrative government job offers in exchange for monetary transactions. It is crucial for citizens to promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities to prevent further exploitation.
