Jammu and Kashmir Makes History with First-Ever BCCI Tournament Title Win
In a monumental achievement, Jammu and Kashmir’s U-16 men’s team secured the Vijay Merchant Trophy title, marking the JKCA’s first-ever BCCI tournament title victory. The historic win came in a dominant fashion with a commanding innings and 182-run triumph over Mizoram in Surat.
Leading the charge was skipper Smagey Khajuria, whose composed century set the tone for the team’s success. Partnering with him was Atharav Sharma, who remained unbeaten on 92 as J&K amassed a formidable total of 400 runs, establishing a decisive 300-run lead in the first innings.
The bowlers then took center stage, efficiently wrapping up Mizoram for 118 runs in the second innings. Left-arm spinner Sanil Singh and pacer Jaskaran Singh emerged as the heroes with the ball for J&K, showcasing their skill and determination.
