Concerns Raised Over Bringing Microphone into Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly
The Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, has expressed serious concerns over reports of a legislator bringing a microphone into the House. He has instructed officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and take necessary action.
The Speaker’s response came following allegations made by National Conference MLA Altaf Ahmad Wani, who claimed that Peoples Democratic Party MLA Waheed Ur Rehman Para had brought a microphone into the Assembly.
Addressing the issue, Speaker Rather emphasized that such behavior, if proven true, goes against the ethical standards and sanctity of the House.
“I am deeply troubled by this incident. It is unacceptable for any member to bring a microphone into the House,” stated the Speaker.
He directed the Assembly Secretariat to thoroughly investigate the matter and take appropriate actions in accordance with the established rules.
Furthermore, the Speaker stressed the importance of upholding the dignity and decorum of the House at all times, emphasizing that any breach of protocol would not be tolerated.
