Union Home Minister Amit Shah Visits Border Out Posts in Jammu
During his visit to Jammu, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, made a significant impact by visiting the Border Out Posts (BOPs) ‘Gurnam’ and ‘Bobiya’ located on the India-Pakistan border. This visit took place on the second day of his trip to Jammu, where he paid homage to the martyrs at the “Ajey Prahari” memorial and planted a sapling at the Border Outpost Bobiya. In addition, Shri Shah inaugurated projects worth ₹ 7 Crore aimed at enhancing the welfare of troops, including newly built Solar Water Heaters, Solar Power Plants, and an Officers’ mess. He also laid the foundation stone for BSF infrastructure projects worth ₹ 242 Crore. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Director General of the Border Security Force.
Appreciation for BSF Personnel
Addressing the BSF personnel, Shri Amit Shah expressed his admiration for the dedication and commitment displayed by the soldiers stationed in remote and challenging areas like Kutch, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the values of duty consciousness and unwavering commitment that he always observes during his visits to such locations. Shri Shah commended the BSF personnel for their deep dedication and unwavering resolve in safeguarding the nation’s borders under difficult and challenging conditions. He described them as the epitome of discipline and dedication, standing firm day and night to protect the country. The Home Minister highlighted the 60-year history of the BSF, stating that it has instilled a sense of discipline among the citizens of the nation.
BSF’s Valor and Bravery
Shri Amit Shah praised the BSF for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country in the face of threats of intrusion or infiltration. He recounted the exemplary courage displayed by the BSF during ‘Operation Sindoor,’ which added a golden chapter to its history. The Home Minister lauded the BSF’s Jammu and Kashmir Frontier for its successful operations against Pakistani posts and terrorist launch pads. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiaz Ahmad and Constable Deepak Chingakham, who were posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra. Shri Shah also mentioned the numerous gallantry medals and commendation certificates received by the BSF during this period.
Modernization and Welfare Initiatives
Shri Amit Shah emphasized the importance of modernizing the border security system to address emerging challenges effectively. He highlighted the government’s commitment to the welfare of security personnel and announced a special welfare scheme for BSF personnel. The Home Minister assured substantial investment in technological modernization to enhance border infrastructure and provide advanced equipment to BSF personnel. This modernization will not only improve operational efficiency but also reduce hardships faced by the soldiers. Shri Shah emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of the nation through the unwavering commitment of BSF personnel.
Recognition of Women Personnel
Shri Amit Shah also acknowledged the significant contribution of women personnel in the BSF towards border security. He later shared a meal with the soldiers, further strengthening his bond with the dedicated members of the force.
