Jammu Pensioners’ Post Second Issue Released
Jammu, Jan 10: The Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) of Jammu recently unveiled the second edition of the Jammu Pensioners’ Post, a quarterly newsletter. The release took place at a notable event attended by the Association’s President, Kuldeep Khoda, and other esteemed dignitaries.
Within the 16-page newsletter lies a detailed representation put forth by Khoda to high-ranking officials, including the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Minister of State for Pensions, and Chairperson of the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC). The representation voices strong objections to the implementation of the “Validation of the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules” through the Finance Act, 2025. Additionally, it calls for the inclusion of pension revision for current pensioners in the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the 8th CPC.
The representation highlights concerns that these measures could have adverse effects on future pension revisions for numerous pensioners under the Old Pension Scheme.
Khoda, speaking at the event after the newsletter release, noted that while there have been assurances from government officials regarding the protection of old pensioners’ interests, no formal orders have been issued nor have the ToR of the 8th CPC been amended. This has led to widespread anxiety among pensioners nationwide. He mentioned that CGPWA, Jammu, is collaborating with other pensioners’ associations to form a united response against what he views as a discriminatory action.
Acknowledging the resolution of various pensioners’ demands, Khoda expressed gratitude to Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and expressed optimism that pending matters would be resolved soon. He also extended New Year greetings to members by presenting rose flowers.
Former Chief Secretaries C. Phunsog, B.R. Kundal, and B.R. Sharma, as well as former DGP Dr. Ashok Bhan, and former Director General, IMPA, Pramod Jain, also spoke at the event, praising the active involvement of CGPWA, Jammu, and hailing it as one of the most dynamic pensioners’ associations in the country.
In his welcome address, General Secretary K.B. Jandial highlighted the association’s activities throughout 2025, emphasizing the organization’s diverse initiatives such as cultural events, health camps, celebrations of national and international days related to pensioners’ and senior citizens’ welfare, excursions, and monthly birthday celebrations.
