Intensified Anti-Terror Operations in Chenab Valley
In a bold move to ensure the safety of residents and visitors in the Chenab valley district, the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police have ramped up their vigilance in the high-altitude areas despite sub-zero temperatures. This proactive approach aims to thwart any potential terrorist activities that may disrupt the New Year celebrations, as per officials’ reports on Wednesday.
A large-scale counter-terrorist operation has been in progress for the past week across the snow-covered regions of Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts in Chenab valley. This operation extends to the adjacent Udhampur, Reasi, and Kathua districts, as well as Rajouri and Poonch districts. Intelligence assessments indicate the presence of approximately 30 to 35 Pakistani terrorists in the forests of the Jammu region. The recent snowfall in the higher altitudes prompted security forces to intensify efforts to flush out these militants before they move to lower areas closer to human settlements.
According to a police officer, intelligence inputs suggest that terrorist groups, active in certain districts bordering Bhaderwah, may attempt to disrupt the New Year celebrations by taking advantage of adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain. Anti-terrorist operations are primarily focused on the remote mountainous areas where terrorists are believed to be hiding away from populated regions.
The heightened operations by the Rashtriya Rifles and the SOG have also extended to Bhalessa, bordering the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. BJP leader and Bhaderwah MLA Daleep Singh Parihar praised the ongoing efforts of the security forces, emphasizing the sacrifices made by the armed forces to protect the nation and its people.
Parihar commended the security personnel for their dedication and mentioned that the presence of the Army in the region instills a sense of security among the local population. Despite the challenging weather conditions and tough terrain, the Army and J&K Police remain committed to neutralizing terrorist threats and maintaining peace in the area.
Local residents from Bhalessa expressed their trust in the security forces, acknowledging their unwavering courage and determination in countering terrorism. They credited the forces for ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in the region, allowing them to celebrate the New Year with confidence and security.
As the rest of the world prepares to welcome 2026, the brave Indian Army and J&K Police in Doda and Kishtwar districts continue their relentless efforts in combating terrorism. Their unwavering resolve and bravery serve as a beacon of hope for the community, reinforcing the safety and security provided by the armed forces.
Despite the harsh winter conditions and rugged terrain, the dedication and bravery of the security forces in Chenab valley remain unparalleled. The residents of the region can rest assured that their safety is prioritized, thanks to the relentless efforts of the forces in ensuring peace and stability.
