Police Crack Down on Unregistered Hotels and Homestays in Srinagar
Over the weekend, Srinagar Police, in collaboration with Tourist Police Station Srinagar, carried out a thorough verification and inspection drive in various parts of the city to ensure that homestays, hotels, and guest houses are operating in compliance with legal requirements.
During the inspection, it was discovered that several establishments were operating without proper registration from the relevant authorities. Among the violators were hotels such as Essar, ABC Residency, Gani, and Aksa, as well as homestays like Al Habib, Golden Moon, and Divine Holiday.
Penalties were imposed on these establishments for operating without the necessary registration. Furthermore, legal action under Sections 126/170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) will be taken against the owners of these unregistered properties.
Srinagar Police have issued a warning to all homestay, hotel, and guest house owners to ensure that they comply with all legal requirements and complete registration with the appropriate authorities to avoid facing similar consequences.
The statement also mentions that similar verification and enforcement drives will be conducted in the future to ensure that all establishments adhere to regulations and to promote safe, lawful, and responsible tourism in the district.
