NSE Investor Awareness Pavilion at International Kolkata Book Fair
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has recently established an investor awareness pavilion at the 49th International Kolkata Book Fair. This initiative is part of NSE’s annual outreach efforts to promote financial literacy and informed investing. The pavilion, located at Boimela Prangan, Bidhannagar, will be open for 14 days starting from January 22.
At the pavilion, visitors can engage in various activities aimed at enhancing their understanding of the securities market. These include interactive displays, one-on-one interactions, investor awareness workshops, and a grievance redressal helpdesk. Attendees can also participate in initiatives such as the ‘Wheel of Financial Freedom’ and ‘Every Move Matters’ games. Additionally, there will be joint activities featuring online financial quizzes and fraud identification exercises.
According to recent data, West Bengal has 73.5 lakh registered investors, constituting 5.9% of NSE’s total investor base and ranking fourth in the country. Last year, the state added 9.9 lakh new investors, contributing 6.3% of total new registrations nationwide. Furthermore, five companies from West Bengal were listed on the mainboard, raising Rs 4,507 crore, while 13 companies debuted on the SME platform, raising Rs 591 crore.
Meanwhile, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has hinted that NSE is on track to receive the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) for its long-awaited IPO. The exchange has been working on addressing regulatory and governance-related requirements before proceeding with the listing.
