Upgraded Basketball Court Inaugurated at City Middle School, Doda
In a significant development, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harvinder Singh recently unveiled the newly upgraded basketball court at City Middle School, Doda. The upgradation project, funded under the District Capex Budget 2025–26 with an allocated budget of Rs.15.75 lakh, was executed by the Mechanical and Hospital Division.
During the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Doda highlighted the importance of enhancing sports infrastructure to support and develop young talent while fostering a healthy sporting culture in the district. He expressed his belief that the upgraded basketball court would offer enhanced opportunities for youth to refine their skills and excel in sports. Additionally, he commended the exceptional talent displayed by young girls in Doda, particularly in archery and cricket, encouraging them to continue their pursuit of excellence.
As part of the event, the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Doda, organized various sports activities such as Volleyball, Basketball, and Cricket under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. This initiative aimed to encourage girls’ participation in sports and promote their overall empowerment.
Deputy Commissioner Doda also engaged with the students, motivating them to actively engage in sports for physical fitness, confidence building, and overall personality development.
The ceremony was attended by notable personalities including Chief Education Officer, Doda Mohd Iqbal; District Social Welfare Officer Zubair Ahmed; Executive Officer, Municipal Council Doda Yasir Wani; officials from the Sports Department, the school’s Principal, teaching staff, and a large number of students.
