Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Warns Traders Against Illegal Profiteering During Ramazan
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, issued a stern warning to traders engaging in illegal profiteering during the upcoming holy month of Ramazan. He emphasized the importance of fair pricing and quality food items for the community’s well-being.
Intensified Inspections Across Kashmir Division
Garg instructed the Food Safety Department to ramp up inspection drives in all districts of the Kashmir division. This measure aims to crack down on overpricing, hoarding, and the sale of substandard food items, ensuring the availability of safe and quality products for the public.
High-Level Meeting for Ramazan Arrangements
Chairing a high-level meeting to review preparations for Ramazan, Garg collaborated with senior officials from various departments and Imams of prominent mosques. The focus was on ensuring a smooth observance of the fasting month, set to commence on February 17 or 18 pending crescent sightings.
Coordinated Efforts for Public Convenience
Emphasizing the need for coordination, the Divisional Commissioner tasked Deputy Commissioners with overseeing arrangements in their respective districts. Their role is crucial in guaranteeing public convenience and a seamless experience throughout the holy month.
Ensuring Essential Services During Ramazan
To enhance the Ramazan experience, Garg directed the Chief Engineer of KPDCL to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, especially during peak Sehri and Iftari hours. Additionally, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation was urged to conduct regular sanitation drives around mosques and shrines.
The General Manager of SRTC was also tasked with improving public transport services, particularly in the Hazratbal area during evening hours and Taraweeh prayers. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioners were instructed to facilitate smooth movement by providing adequate public transport facilities during evening hours.
