Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Conference Leader Highlights Youth Disillusionment
Imran Reza Ansari, a prominent leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Conference (JKPC), recently addressed the issues faced by the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in relation to job opportunities and educational prospects. He indirectly criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for failing to fulfill promises made to the youth during the 2024 election campaign.
Ansari expressed his disappointment with the current job allocation system in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the struggles faced by young individuals who had hoped for a brighter future. He emphasized that while youth around the world are engaging in discussions about artificial intelligence and emerging economies, the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are grappling with challenges such as seat allocation, exam transparency, and basic justice.
One of the key issues raised by Ansari is the situation faced by MBBS aspirants at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME). He pointed out that the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) has failed to address concerns related to timelines and supernumerary seats, leaving aspiring medical students in a state of uncertainty.
Furthermore, Ansari highlighted the disparity in the selection process for judicial services aspirants, with only a small number of qualifiers progressing to the mains stage. This has raised questions about the fairness and transparency of the system, leading to a sense of mistrust among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Despite the global focus on advanced technologies and future industries, Ansari lamented that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are still struggling to access basic opportunities and resources. He questioned the efficacy of the systems in place, particularly in the medical and judicial sectors, and raised concerns about the lack of confidence among the youth in the electoral process.
As the leader of JKPC, Ansari called for a reevaluation of the promises made to the youth and emphasized the need for a more inclusive and transparent system that inspires confidence and trust. The challenges faced by young individuals in Jammu and Kashmir highlight the importance of addressing systemic issues and ensuring equal opportunities for all.
