Amit Shah: Tourism Enthusiasm in Jammu and Kashmir Remains Strong Despite Setbacks

In the aftermath of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack last year, the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir faced a significant setback. However, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized on Saturday that the enthusiasm of tourists from all corners of the country to visit the region has not waned.

Speaking at a review meeting in Jammu to evaluate the progress of development projects within the Union Territory, Shah highlighted the resilient interest of tourists in exploring the beauty of Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed the importance of aggressive marketing strategies to promote the diverse tourist destinations in the region to travelers from other states.

Assuring full support from the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre, Shah pledged assistance in the development of new tourist spots in Jammu and Kashmir. The government aims to tap into the untapped tourism potential of the region and attract more visitors.

Last year’s tragic incident at Pahalgam, where Pakistani terrorists linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) targeted tourists, resulting in the loss of 26 lives, dealt a severe blow to the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite this setback, Shah’s reassurance of support and promotion signals a positive outlook for the tourism sector in the region.
