CINE CONNECT Workshop: Fostering Cinema Art in Jammu
In a bid to promote film culture and create awareness about opportunities in the cinema industry, the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) in Jammu organized a one-day workshop titled ‘CINE CONNECT’ at the Media Complex.
The workshop drew participation from students of Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Jammu, Government Polytechnic College Gandhinagar, and artists from Academy of Art Culture and Languages, all eager to delve into the world of cinema art.
DIPR’s initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the cinematic ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir. Director of Information and Public Relations, Nitish Rajora, expressed the department’s commitment to organizing such workshops regularly to educate aspiring artists and filmmakers about the nuances of filmmaking and art.
Empowering Aspiring Artists
Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina, Joint Director Information (HQ), commended the workshop for nurturing local talent and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in implementing the J&K Film Policy effectively. The aim is to position Jammu & Kashmir as a preferred filming destination and create employment opportunities in the creative sector.
Maheer Thakur, Nodal Officer for Film Policy J&K, outlined the objectives of the workshop, emphasizing the role of CINE CONNECT in bridging the gap between aspiring artists and industry professionals. The workshop aims to provide firsthand exposure to various aspects of cinema art and support the vibrant film ecosystem in the Union Territory.
Insights from Industry Experts
The workshop featured renowned resource persons from the film industry, including Actor & Director Ajay Paul Singh Andotra, Filmmaker & Founder of AVD Motion Pictures Atul Vinod Duggal, and Bollywood Actor Mir Sarwar. They shared valuable insights on performing arts, acting, and filmmaking.
Mir Sarwar conducted an engaging session on acting techniques, encouraging participants to develop confidence and dedication. Ajay Paul Singh Andotra discussed career opportunities in acting and direction, highlighting the importance of training and perseverance. Atul Vinod Duggal provided a comprehensive overview of filmmaking, emphasizing the diverse roles available in Bollywood and regional cinema beyond acting.
Interactive Learning Session
The participants received practical exposure and professional insights in performing arts, particularly in acting, filmmaking, and theatre arts. An interactive session allowed students and artists to engage with the resource persons, asking questions about career pathways, auditions, and industry challenges.
The workshop, graced by key figures such as Nitish Rajora, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina, Deepak Dubey, and Maheer Thakur, marked a significant milestone in strengthening the film culture in Jammu & Kashmir and empowering the youth with knowledge and opportunities in the field of cinema.
