Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Urges New Delhi to Restore Full Statehood
The Additional General Secretary and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Chowdary Muhammad Ramzan, has strongly called upon New Delhi to respect the democratic mandate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the importance of fulfilling the promise of restoring full-fledged statehood to the region.
During a meeting with various public and individual delegations at the party headquarters in Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar, Ramzan listened to concerns regarding civic, developmental, and administrative issues affecting different areas. He assured the delegations that he would address these issues by engaging with the relevant ministers for prompt resolution.
Ramzan underscored that the restoration of full statehood is not just a political demand but a fundamental democratic and constitutional right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed the significance of honoring the people’s mandate, expressed through the electoral process, by promptly reinstating statehood.
Highlighting the efforts of the Omar Abdullah-led elected government, Ramzan commended the ongoing initiatives aimed at narrowing development disparities, enhancing governance, and rebuilding public trust in institutions. He noted the government’s commitment to facilitating greater access, accountability, and responsiveness in administration for the benefit of the common people.
Emphasizing that meaningful development, institutional credibility, and sustainable peace can only be achieved through the restoration of democratic rights and empowerment of the people through an elected, full-fledged state government, Ramzan reiterated his support for the legitimate demand for statehood.
Assuring the delegations of the National Conference’s continued advocacy for the people’s voice at all relevant platforms until the rightful demand for statehood is fulfilled, Chowdary Muhammad Ramzan reiterated the party’s commitment to the cause. (KNS)
