In a recent statement, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo emphasized the J&K government’s commitment to building a conducive environment for sportspersons to access ample entrepreneurial opportunities. He highlighted the importance of nurturing talent from a young age and providing necessary infrastructure and coaching to support their growth.
The inaugural event of the two-day national level sports conference – Srijan, held at the Convention Centre in Jammu, was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Dulloo outlined the government’s priorities in promoting sports in J&K, emphasizing the need to provide opportunities for children to participate in various sports disciplines and prepare talented individuals for national and international competitions.
Addressing concerns about job opportunities for national and international level sportspersons in J&K, the Chief Secretary urged a broader perspective on sports as a viable career option. He assured that efforts were underway to address grievances and provide necessary support to athletes.
Highlighting the entrepreneurial opportunities within the sports sector, Dulloo emphasized the government’s vision for promoting sports as a career choice. While acknowledging the current lack of infrastructure for hosting international cricket matches in J&K, he mentioned ongoing discussions on potential collaborations with professional associations to develop necessary facilities.
With a focus on improving sports infrastructure, coaching facilities, and creating opportunities for sportspersons, events like “Srijan” play a crucial role in identifying deficiencies and developing a roadmap for future initiatives. The two-day sports conference serves as a platform for listening to experts in the field and strategizing for the advancement of sports in the region.
