Crackdown on Financial Frauds: EOW Files Chargesheet Against Accused in Fake Job Appointment Scam
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has taken a significant step in combating financial frauds by filing a chargesheet against two individuals involved in a fake job appointment scam. The accused, Showkat Ahmad Hajam and Irshad Ahmad Ahanger, have been charged with cheating a woman aspirant by providing her with a forged appointment order for a government job in the Agriculture department.
The chargesheet has been filed before the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class in Budgam, in connection with FIR No. 43/2021 registered under Sections 420/511, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code. Showkat Ahmad Hajam, a resident of Wagoora, and Irshad Ahmad Ahanger, from Ratnipora, are the identified accused in this case.
According to an EOW spokesperson, the case originated from a complaint received from the Deputy Director of Agriculture, alleging that a woman had attempted to join the Directorate based on a fake appointment order. The forged communication presented by the woman, dated 22.11.2019, was found to be invalid upon verification. It was revealed that the appointment orders mentioned in the communication were also fabricated.
Further investigation revealed that Irshad Ahmad Ahanger had obtained the fake communication from co-accused Showkat Ahmad Hajam. The forged order falsely indicated the selection of three individuals as orderlies in the Agriculture Department, Kashmir Division. As a result of this fraudulent activity, a woman from Pulwama was misled into believing that she had secured a legitimate appointment in the department.
Although no financial transactions were involved, the accused individuals were found to be part of a conspiracy to use forged appointment orders to deceive government job aspirants. This act constituted an attempt to cheat under Section 511 of the IPC.
After completing the investigation, the chargesheet has been submitted to the competent court for further legal proceedings.
