J&K CM Omar Abdullah Calls for Strengthening Trust with Travel Fraternity
Mumbai- In an effort to promote Jammu and Kashmir as a safe, vibrant, and all-season tourism destination, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the importance of building trust and longstanding partnerships with the travel industry. Speaking to travel agents, tour operators, and representatives from Maharashtra and Gujarat in Mumbai, Abdullah clarified that the goal was not just to sell J&K as a tourist spot, but to strengthen relationships within the travel sector.
Abdullah expressed gratitude towards Maharashtra for its unwavering support to Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism sector, especially during challenging times. He highlighted the crucial role played by Maharashtra-based travel agencies in rebuilding trust and attracting tourists back to the region following the Pahalgam attack last year.
Recognizing Maharashtra as one of the key contributors to Jammu and Kashmir tourism, Abdullah commended the travel fraternity for their continuous support and solidarity. He underscored the diverse tourism offerings in the region, including leisure, adventure, pilgrimage, and wellness tourism, and emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing safety measures, infrastructure, and overall visitor experience.
The outreach event, part of the Maharashtra and Gujarat Travel Fraternity Outreach, also involved honoring prominent travel agents and associations for their efforts in promoting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. The gathering, attended by various dignitaries including Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and MP Gurinder Singh Shammi, aimed to foster dialogue, collaboration, and a shared commitment towards positioning Jammu and Kashmir as a premier destination for both domestic and international travelers.
The interaction between Abdullah and the travel fraternity served as a platform for renewing partnerships and enhancing mutual trust, ultimately working towards a sustainable growth in Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism sector.
