Union Home Minister Amit Shah Vows to Identify and Send Back Bangladeshi Infiltrators
During a public rally in Borduwa, Assam, Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the Congress of prioritizing Bangladeshi infiltrators as their vote bank, posing a threat to the people, culture, land, and identity of Assam.
Shah pledged that the Central government would take steps to identify and repatriate all illegal immigrants not only from Assam but also from other parts of India.
He highlighted the detrimental impact of the Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunals) (IMDT) Act of 1983, which provided legal protection to infiltrators until it was later revoked by the Supreme Court.
Assuring the people of Assam, Shah affirmed, “The BJP government will identify all Bangladeshi infiltrators and send them back.”
Shah expressed concern over the gradual weakening of the cultural identity of Assam’s people under the influence of infiltrators and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for safeguarding their heritage and focusing on comprehensive state development.
He criticized the Congress for neglecting the martyrs of the Assam movement against infiltrations and highlighted the efforts of BJP governments in establishing a grand memorial dedicated to the nation.
Shah paid tribute to the martyrs of the Assam Agitation at the ‘Swahid Smarak Kshetra’ in Guwahati and emphasized the transformative impact of the BJP rule in the state over the past decade.
Comparing the visits of Prime Minister Modi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Assam, Shah underscored the BJP’s commitment to the state’s development and welfare.
He credited the BJP government for allocating substantial funds for Assam’s development, contrasting it with the Congress’s track record.
Shah inaugurated the redeveloped Batadrava Than, the birthplace of Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardeva, emphasizing its historical significance and transformation into a world-class tourist destination.
He commended the state government’s efforts, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in reclaiming land from Bangladeshi infiltrators and restoring cultural heritage sites.
Shah reiterated the BJP’s commitment to making Assam infiltrator-free and highlighted the importance of preserving Assamese culture and ideals.
He emphasized the significance of the ‘Vrindavani Vastra’ woven under Sankardeva’s guidance and applauded Assam’s first Chief Minister Gopinath Bardaloi for his role in integrating the state into India.
Shah lauded Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives for peace and development in Assam, citing the successful peace accords with militant outfits and the state’s transformation into a hub of growth and development in the North East.
He concluded by showcasing Assam’s evolution from a troubled state to a beacon of progress and prosperity under the BJP government’s leadership.
