Jammu and Kashmir’s Desire for Statehood: Jugal Kishore Sharma’s Perspective
Member of Parliament representing Jammu, Jugal Kishore Sharma, expressed the widespread desire for statehood within Jammu and Kashmir. Emphasizing his alignment with this sentiment, Sharma reiterated the firm commitment of the national leadership to restore statehood once conducive conditions prevail.
During a media interaction in Jammu, Sharma acknowledged the universal demand for statehood across the Union Territory. He highlighted the assurances given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the restoration of statehood when the region achieves stability.
Furthermore, Sharma voiced concerns about the presence and movement of alleged Bangladeshi and Rohingya individuals in certain areas of Jammu. He urged the authorities to closely monitor these activities.
Referring to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Sharma urged the government to monitor and consolidate the settlement of Bangladeshi and Rohingya residents in Jammu. Efforts are underway to identify and relocate these individuals to a specific location.
Addressing the legal aspects of deportation, Sharma clarified that the authority to repatriate such individuals to their respective countries lies with the Central Government. Any decisions regarding deportation will adhere strictly to international law norms and will be executed by the Centre. [KNT]
