Girl Athletes from District Baramulla Shine at Khelo India Asmita Women’s Cycling League
In a display of sheer determination and talent, girl athletes from District Baramulla showcased their skills at the Khelo India Asmita Women’s Cycling League held in Kurukshetra, Haryana, from 10th to 11th January 2026. Ulfat Mushtaq, Mehak Mushtaq, and Hoor-i-ein Lone delivered spirited performances, highlighting the impact of Khelo India centers in nurturing female sporting talent.
Despite facing challenges, Ulfat Mushtaq secured the 10th place in the 30 km time trial and displayed remarkable courage by finishing 111th in the 60 km mass start race after a crash. Mehak Mushtaq also excelled, achieving the 12th place in both the 30 km time trial and the 60 km mass start. Special recognition goes to Hoor-i-ein Lone for securing the 16th place, adding pride to the team.
This event marked a historic moment as it was the first-ever participation of the Jammu & Kashmir women’s cycling team in the Khelo India Asmita League, with all riders proudly representing District Baramulla. The J&K Sports Council commended the athletes for their determination, resilience, and fighting spirit, bringing honor to the district and the region as a whole.
With the entire region celebrating their achievements, the athletes were praised for their performance and urged to continue shining, inspiring, and making history in the world of cycling.
