Ensuring Full Utilization of Central Government Welfare Schemes in Jammu and Kashmir
Emphasizing on Sports Infrastructure Development and Dairy Sector Promotion
Review Meeting in Jammu chaired by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah
New Delhi: A comprehensive review meeting was conducted in Jammu by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah to evaluate the progress of development projects in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting, attended by key officials including Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah, focused on various sectors such as road infrastructure, power, industry, tourism, and connectivity.
Shri Amit Shah reiterated the Government’s commitment to the vision of a developed and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He highlighted the significant progress made in development projects in the region and stressed the need to fully utilize the hydropower potential of Jammu and Kashmir. Special attention was given to ensuring the effective implementation of government welfare schemes and the equitable distribution of development benefits.
The Union Home Minister emphasized the continued interest of tourists in visiting Jammu and Kashmir and proposed aggressive marketing strategies to promote the region’s tourist destinations across the country. He also assured support from the Government of India in developing new tourist spots in Jammu and Kashmir.
Shri Amit Shah underscored the importance of developing sports infrastructure and establishing sports academies to engage the youth in constructive activities. Efforts will be made to attract investments in sports development, with a focus on promoting the dairy sector through collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
Jammu & Kashmir’s inclusion in the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme for FY 2025–26 was highlighted as a significant step, enabling access to interest-free loans for capital projects. The Home Minister stressed the importance of fiscal discipline in stabilizing the fiscal deficit of the Union Territory over time.
India’s progress towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047 was acknowledged by Shri Amit Shah, who reaffirmed the Government’s unwavering support for Jammu and Kashmir in achieving this milestone. The visit of the Union Home Minister reflects the Government’s strong commitment to prioritizing the development, peace, and security of Jammu and Kashmir.
