Kashmir’s Tourism Sector Faces Challenges Amidst Cold Conditions
Srinagar- Amidst the freezing temperatures in Kashmir, the reopening of popular tourist destinations Doodpathri and Yousmarg faces challenges as it is subject to security clearance beyond the Tourism Department’s control.
Responding to queries raised by MLA Budgam Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi in the Legislative Assembly, the government highlighted that decisions regarding the reopening of these destinations involve security considerations that are not solely within the Tourism Department’s jurisdiction.
The recent incidents in the tourism sector have significantly impacted tourist footfall in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to economic hardships for stakeholders associated with the industry.
The administration is actively implementing various measures to rejuvenate tourism in the Union Territory, including promotional campaigns, infrastructure enhancements, and initiatives to restore confidence among visitors.
Furthermore, a series of promotional events and thematic festivals have been organized both nationally and within the Union Territory to attract tourists. The ongoing winter season has seen a rise in tourist activities, indicating a positive trend in the tourism sector.
