Airtel Introduces AI-Powered “Fraud Alert” System to Combat Banking Fraud
In an effort to combat spam and cyber fraud, Airtel has launched an AI-powered “Fraud Alert” system aimed at providing real-time protection to customers against the increasing threat of One-Time Password (OTP)-related banking frauds.
With the rise in fraudsters exploiting the urgency associated with OTPs for everyday services, such as deliveries, customers are often deceived into sharing banking transaction OTPs, putting their savings at risk of potential fraud.
The newly introduced AI-driven system by Airtel is designed to detect risky situations and alert customers promptly. When a bank OTP is detected during a potentially suspicious incoming call, the system intervenes with a fraud alert, warning users about the risks of sharing or providing consent for a banking transaction OTP while still on the call.
Airtel emphasizes that the solution integrates AI-driven intelligence with human judgment, offering customers valuable time to verify requests and protect their financial security, ultimately helping to thwart fraud attempts.
