Army’s Northern Commander Reviews Security Dynamics in Jammu Region
Amidst a series of encounters in Kathua and Kishtwar districts, Army’s Northern Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma recently conducted a thorough review of the evolving security dynamics in the Jammu region. The focus of the meeting, which took place at the Jammu-based White Knight Corps, also known as XVI Corps, was on strengthening the counter-terrorism grid.
The ongoing anti-terrorist operations in the higher reaches have witnessed significant developments, with encounters resulting in the elimination of an army paratrooper and a Pakistani terrorist affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit in Kishtwar and Kathua districts, respectively, over the past fortnight.
Lt Gen Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, chaired a comprehensive joint security review meeting at Nagrota, as per an official post on X. The meeting involved key stakeholders and aimed to assess the evolving security dynamics in the region.
The forum deliberated on the imperative need for seamless synergy in operations, joint combat readiness, and the reinforcement of the counter-terrorism grid. It also focused on formulating modalities for heightened alertness by leveraging all available resources in the region, as highlighted by the Northern Command.
