Major Cross-Border Narcotics Smuggling Attempt Thwarted in Jammu
In a significant operation along the International Border, authorities successfully intercepted a major cross-border narcotics smuggling attempt in Jammu. The joint efforts of the Border Security Force (BSF) and local police led to the seizure of more than 4 kg of heroin, valued at over Rs 20 crore.
The operation took place in a forward village of the R S Pura Sector, prompted by intelligence about a drone dropping contraband from across the border. Two packets containing the heroin were discovered during the search and promptly confiscated by the officials.
Following the seizure, law enforcement agencies have initiated a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the illicit cross-border smuggling network. This successful intervention highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
Recent Incidents and Arrests
This recent interception comes on the heels of another significant arrest where two individuals were apprehended for smuggling heroin from Pakistan using drones in the border areas of Kathua district.
Jatin, a resident of Pathankot in Punjab, and Danish Dogra alias Sajan of Jakhbar in Kathua, were taken into custody in connection with a case involving drone-dropping near Nagri and the recovery of 150 grams of heroin. Investigations revealed that the duo had been communicating with a Pakistan-based smuggler through VoIP calls, highlighting the sophisticated nature of these cross-border operations.
Authorities are diligently working to dismantle these illegal networks and prevent the flow of narcotics across borders. The collaboration between security forces and law enforcement agencies remains crucial in safeguarding the region from such criminal activities.
As efforts intensify to combat drug trafficking and smuggling, the successful interception in Jammu serves as a testament to the commitment of authorities in ensuring the safety and security of the border areas.
