Security Forces Thwart Heroin Smuggling Attempt Along Indo-Pak Border
Security forces successfully intercepted a cross-border narcotics smuggling attempt in the RS Pura sector of the Indo-Pak International Border, seizing more than four kilograms of heroin that was suspected to have been dropped by a drone of Pakistani origin.
The operation, a joint effort between the Border Security Force and Jammu & Kashmir Police, resulted in the confiscation of contraband valued at over ₹20 crore in the global market. The heroin had been dispatched in two separate shipments before being intercepted.
This interception sheds light on the growing trend of utilizing drones for smuggling activities across the border. Security agencies have ramped up surveillance and ground operations in vulnerable areas to combat the escalating use of unmanned aerial vehicles for trafficking narcotics.
Authorities are currently conducting investigations to identify local accomplices and dismantle the network facilitating the movement of drugs across borders. They are also analyzing technical and ground intelligence to trace the origin and intended recipients of the seized contraband. [KNT]
