Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Chairs AI Roundtable with Indian Edtech Startups
Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, led a significant Artificial Intelligence (AI) roundtable on Wednesday, convening founders of ten innovative Indian edtech startups. The event, held at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Delhi, aimed to explore the potential of AI in revolutionizing India’s education system in alignment with the objectives outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
During the roundtable, Minister Pradhan emphasized the transformative power of technology in promoting empowerment and inclusivity, particularly in bridging the gap between hope and opportunity. He highlighted the pivotal role that AI will play in realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047, emphasizing the need for educational technology to focus on enhancing learning outcomes through personalized, adaptive, and student-centric models.
The Minister underscored the importance of AI-enabled solutions in delivering affordable, equitable, and scalable skilling opportunities, emphasizing the significance of innovative approaches to education delivery.
Notable Indian edtech startups participating in the roundtable included Arivihan, Fermi AI, Khare AI classes, Seekho, Speak, SuperKalam, Supernova, Vedantu, ConveGenius, and Virohan. These startups showcased cutting-edge AI-first solutions spanning K-12 learning, test preparation, upskilling, language learning, and skill education, with a particular focus on underserved student populations.
The insights generated from the roundtable are set to inform policy discussions at the upcoming India AI Impact Summit, with a specific focus on responsible AI adoption, safeguards, and strategies for scaling impact across various sectors, including education.
Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave and India AI Summit
The roundtable will be followed by a two-day event, the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave, scheduled to take place on February 12–13, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This conclave will bring together key policymakers from the central and state governments, researchers, academic institutions, and industry leaders to deliberate on AI’s strategic role in transforming India’s education ecosystem, emphasizing innovation, scalable adoption, and national capacity building.
The Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave serves as a precursor to the larger India AI Summit, scheduled from February 16 to 20 in the national capital. The summit is expected to witness the participation of global tech leaders, including NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon.
